The general election is just around the corner. A good opportunity to take a look at the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on our democracy - with speakers from correctiv, Fachhochschule Dortmund, the City of Dortmund and the Düsseldorf Institute for Internet and Democracy.

From social networks and fake news to opportunities for a more constructive political discussion: AI has long been part of our everyday political life. Find out how AI is shaping our information world, what risks there are for manipulation and what opportunities it offers. Together, we will make the topic of AI more tangible, ask critical questions and consider how we can use AI in a meaningful way for our democracy.

The program:

  • Welcome and introduction:
    Friedhelm Evermann, Special Representative of the Lord Mayor for Diversity, Tolerance and Democracy

  • Lecture: "How is artificial intelligence changing our democracy?"
    Dr. Dennis Frieß (communication scientist and scientific coordinator of the Düsseldorf Institute for Internet and Democracy (DIID) at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf)

  • Panel discussion:
    With Caroline Lindekamp (correctiv), Prof. Dr. Maik Wunder (Fachhochschule Dortmund, Professorship for Digitalization and Social Responsibility), Dr. Dennis Frieß (DIID) Moderated by Jana Goller.
