Prof. Dr. Hauke Brunkhorst as a guest
Prof. Dr. Hauke Brunkhorst(Opens in a new tab) , retired philosopher, sociologist and educational scientist at the University of Flensburg, was a guest at the Social-Philosophical Salon in the Faculty of Applied Social Studies on 3 July 2024. The almost 80-year-old is known for his wide-ranging thought processes in sociology and political and constitutional theory.
A good 20 participants listened to his (digital) lecture as part of the summer semester edition of the Social-Philosophical Salon.
Conflicts in global society
For the Salon, he focused on conflicts in global society. A topic that could not be more topical and worrying. The perspectives offered were correspondingly complex, opening up a new perspective on the last 2000 years of the history of power. To the delighted response of the audience, light could finally be seen at the end of the current tunnel: It is precisely the new upheavals brought about by AI that could make the acute crises and armed conflicts appear to be retrospective twitches of old forms of conflict resolution and power struggles in a development that could lead to other struggles for democratically constituted forms of coexistence supported by global society.
The social-philosophical salon
The social-philosophical salon brings together all social disciplines, including philosophy, for joint exchange and discussion. Since the summer semester 20217, it has taken place every semester on different topics. The salon is intended to be a space for thinking, beyond credit points and performance assessments.
