Programming preliminary course

The programming pre-course is intended to provide all first-year students with a common technical starting point for their upcoming computer science studies with regard to Java programming. The Java hamster model is used for this purpose. It offers an easy introduction to learning programming with Java by developing so-called "hamster programs" with which a virtual hamster can be steered through a virtual landscape and certain tasks can be solved. During the course, the essential programming constructs such as procedures, selection and repetition statements as well as numbers, variables and expressions are covered. Participation in this preliminary course is strongly recommended for all first-year students.
