Live music and poetry on Mehmet-Kubaşık Square

Information

A colorful event on Mehmet-Kubaşık-Platz in Dortmund's Nordstadt district is promoting diversity, respect and tolerance in order to strengthen togetherness. The program includes live music and poetry on Friday, 14 July 2023, from 5 to 9 pm.

The General Students' Committee (AStA) and Fachhochschule Dortmund's "Hochschule vor Ort" are organizing the public event together with the Nordstadt neighbourhood management. Singer Hannah Wetter and guitarist Jean-Michel Kellermann will provide music on a stage. The duo from Essen will alternate with Alina Schmolke and Max Raths from Düsseldorf, who will contribute poetry. The Fachhochschule Dortmund's Family Service is preparing hands-on activities for children. Visitors can also look forward to free coffee and information stands.

Since 2019, the square between Münsterstraße and Mallinckrodtstraße has borne the name of Mehmet Kubaşık, who was murdered in 2006 by members of an extreme right-wing terrorist cell known as the National Socialist Underground (NSU).
