In a world that is significantly shaped by the influence of digital games and in which they have long since ceased to lead a niche existence, the "media eating machine theater[1]" has also embraced the game. But what exactly is behind the term "game theater"? What elements from the world of gaming can be found in theater? And why are we talking about post-digital theater pedagogy?
In the lecture "Theater Reloaded: Gaming strategies in post-digital theater pedagogical practice", we will approach these questions and take a closer look at the concept of post-digital theater pedagogy using practical examples. The focus will be on new forms of theater in which the participants are no longer just passive spectators, but can actively participate in the action. The integration of game mechanics opens up new opportunities for participants to help shape the plot and make decisions that can influence the course of the play.
