You can find more information and a list of all laboratories on our website
City and region
Well networked and varied
The region is located in an environment characterized by electrical engineering and the energy industry. In addition, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering offers the advantages of a manageable section with modern laboratories at one of the largest universities of applied sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The faculty is closely integrated into the city and its surroundings. We benefit from the good reputation of Fachhochschule Dortmund. This offers attractive opportunities for cooperation with companies in the region. Furthermore, as part of a large urban conurbation, Dortmund is culturally very diverse and multifaceted. It is a good place to live, especially as rents and the cost of living are comparatively low.
Internationality
Internship semester abroad
In the Electrical Engineering study program, you can opt for an additional internship semester. This allows you to gain international experience abroad, which you can deepen during the course of your studies by attending English-language courses. At the beginning of your studies, teaching engineering methodology and key skills is also very important. In the further course of your studies, you will build on these skills through internships, seminars and practical projects and their presentation.
Counseling and support
Mentoring, e-learning and career service
Fachhochschule Dortmund offers its students a unique advisory concept. In the first two semesters, personal mentors are on hand to guide and support you in order to facilitate a successful start and progression of your studies. In the second semester, you will have a progress meeting so that any problems can be identified as early as possible.
We want you to cope well with critical subjects such as math and physics. An extensive advisory network, e-learning offers and the Maths HelpDesk will support you in this.
The Career Service at Fachhochschule Dortmund also offers you numerous opportunities to further develop your skills and sharpen your personal profile. For example, you can develop your key social or methodological skills and expand your foreign language and IT skills in interdisciplinary events
Studying as a phase of life
Family, health and culture
Fachhochschule Dortmund supports students who have responsibility for children or care for relatives. We offer childcare and advise you on financial and organizational issues.
The health of our students is important to us, so they can take advantage of the university sports program, among other things. Our water dispensers are also available free of charge after sport.
We want students to look beyond the confines of the university. For example, you can attend performances at Theater Dortmund free of charge with your student ID.
