I am different because I am like everyone else and because everyone is different - Rio Reiser once sang this and musically summed up what a modern society must succeed in doing. It must value the individual in their uniqueness. And at the same time, a unifying bond must be tangible for everyone. It forms the foundation of living together and consists not only of shared convictions and values, but also of existential security. Questions of justice are raised here, as are the challenges of tomorrow's social policy.
