Information
How people become homeless is the theme of this year's winter campaign "Warm and safe?" organized by the Fachhochschule Dortmund's "Hochschule vor Ort" in the Nordstadtgalerie. Participation in the events is free of charge.
The event will kick off on Monday, December 4, 2023, with Tim Sonnenberg, research assistant at the Faculty of Applied Social Studies. Based on his dissertation, he will explain from 6.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. the prejudices and attributions with which homeless people are confronted.
In addition to the lecture, an exhibition with photos and text excerpts will open in the Nordstadtgalerie. In addition, a window exhibition by photographer Lennart Hüppe will document the commitment of local actors to the homeless until January 15, 2024. The Dortmund soup kitchen Kana, the ecumenical homeless initiative Gast-Haus, the Wichernhaus and the bodo association will be presented.
Another item on the program of the winter campaign is a visit by social activist Janita-Marja Juvonen on Monday, 11 December 2023. The author of the book "DIE ANDEREN: die harte Realität der Obdachlosigkeit" will be a guest at the Nordstadtgalerie from 6.30 pm to 9 pm for an exchange and discussion.
An approximately one-and-a-half-hour "Social City Tour" will follow in cooperation with the bodo association on Saturday, January 13, 2024. The tour from the perspective of a formerly homeless person will take you from 1 p.m. from the bookshop at Schwanenwall 36-38 to important places for the everyday lives of those affected. To take part, you must register by emailing your name to nordstadtgaleriefh-dortmundde . The registration is only valid with a confirmation email.
