Lecture as part of the online lecture series "Fachwissen zum Mittag", organized by the library and the Graduate Center of the Fachhochschule Dortmund.

Open Access means free access to scientific publications for interested parties from all target groups via the Internet. In this way, scientific information can be disseminated more quickly and without hindrance. Open Access thus creates more attention for research results.

The lecture provides an overview of the history, possibilities, advantages and disadvantages of open access publishing. In addition, different variants and financing models will be explained and the services of the Fachhochschule Dortmund library relating to Open Access will be presented.
