My scholarship enabled me to focus on my studies. Despite my other commitments as a family man and employee, I was always able to achieve my study goals. The automatic re-admission to the Cusanuswerk scholarship program enabled me to integrate the Master's degree as a further goal in my life planning. In addition to the financial relief, the strengthening of my own personality within the biographical support is also a major concern of my scholarship provider. The good networking within the scholarship organization as well as across the organization has enabled me to get to know great people and broaden my horizons. I will certainly benefit greatly from this network, both professionally and privately. My tip for scholarship applicants: Even if the first steps in the application process involve a lot of work, it's worth it. It is certainly worth a try. And if your first application doesn't work out - keep at it.

I really appreciate the privilege of the scholarship: The financial support (BAföG rate + €300 per month without repayment) secures my livelihood for the entire duration of my studies, while the non-material support gives me access to a wide variety of networks and seminars for further education. As a scholarship holder, I get to meet interesting people that I wouldn't necessarily meet otherwise. I can get involved in foundation life in areas that interest me and thus help shape our society individually

As a scholarship holder group spokesperson for the Hans Böckler Foundation (HBS), I am the contact person for all HBS scholarship holders in Dortmund. In this role, I usually plan and organize events in cooperation with the local DGB trade unions. At the foundation, we also have a very diverse seminar program that allows me to continue my education far beyond my field of study, which is also very important to me.

Especially in the regional groups, you notice that the Foundation of German Business, which supports me, is not only made up of Business Studies students, but includes a much broader spectrum of students from a wide range of study programs. I was thrilled by this diversity! Moreover, the foundation not only supported me financially, but also enabled me to come into contact with many great people and to take part in valuable and instructive seminars. I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities that the foundation has given me.

My scholarship has enabled me to take part in a wide range of events, lectures and excursions. The greatest added value that my scholarship has given me is access to an ever-growing network of like-minded students as well as the many non-material support opportunities, which provide me with many extracurricular skills in addition to my studies. My tip for scholarship applicants: You don't have to go through the application process alone! Contact the scholarship advisory service at Fachhochschule Dortmund, who can go through the process with you and prepare you for your selection interview if necessary."

My tip for those interested in a scholarship: Just give it a try! You have nothing to lose, but if you are accepted, you will receive financial support as well as lots of exciting offers and new contacts! Just be yourself! Then you can be relaxed and don't have to try to fulfill any expectations. You'll also come across as likeable and confident. My scholarship enabled me to get to know people I would never have met otherwise, but with whom I got on really well straight away! It also gives me an insight into completely different subject areas, as we come from all kinds of degree courses. With my scholarship, I have financial security and can concentrate on my studies in peace.

My tips for scholarship applicants:

1. preparation is (not) everything. Take a look at the foundation's homepage and its projects, but don't get stuck on them. Some solid background knowledge is enough.

2. be yourself and be honest! Do you have a 'gap' in your CV? No problem, tell us what you did in the meantime and why. Try to steer the one-on-one conversation.

3. you want to get to something? Find a transition; the commission member will respond to it.

My scholarship has enabled me to spend two semesters abroad with financial support and thus attend courses at top universities and gain an insight into everyday life on two other continents. The greatest added value that my scholarship has given me is the various offers and events. Being able to spend a semester abroad in the country of my choice without any worries, taking part in interesting events and coming into contact with students from all over the world are just a few examples. My tip for anyone interested in a scholarship: just try it! I didn't think I would get a scholarship either, but the selection weekend alone and the experience I gained there were worth it.
