In the project AMeG - Activation of migrants for energy-efficient building modernization - funded by the Mercator Foundation, new communication channels were tested in order to address both migrant owners and tenants personally and in a culturally sensitive manner with the help of migrant self-organizations and multipliers, to inform them about the topic of energy efficiency and to motivate them to use the existing information and advice services, municipal funding programmes, etc. The project was funded by the Mercator Foundation. Various strategies were pursued to gain access to the migrant target groups: Neighborhood reference, community reference, activation via business networks and outreach advice for owners. Through the accompanying evaluation, it was possible to expand knowledge about property owners and tenants with a migration background in the field of energy efficiency. In addition, key findings were generated on the process of activating migrants and cooperation with migrant self-organizations. The central results and recommendations for action were reflected on in a workshop with practice partners and summarized in the brochure "Activation of migrants for energy-efficient building refurbishment" in an easily understandable and practical way for actors planning measures to activate migrants.
