Content

As part of the BMBF-funded joint project "Learning City Gelsenkirchen - Education and Participation as Strategies for Socio-Spatial Development", a concept for cooperation between science and urban society (Citizen Science 2.0) with recommendations for action and conditions for success is to be developed in the Citizen Science research focus area. In this paper, a (heuristic) model for Citizen Science 2.0 is formulated, which is to be applied in the concrete cooperation between science and practice within the framework of the Learning City of Gelsenkirchen. The initial aim was to arrive at a common understanding of cooperation, but the working paper also serves to compare the heuristics with practical implementation at a later date. The understanding is derived from initial discussions with practitioners in the Learning City of Gelsenkirchen and with the academic partners involved in the process. In addition to the mission statement itself, the elaboration and development process and the results of the group discussions are presented. This highlights the controversial, constructive discussions and views regarding the role of science in the process as well as the complex expectations of the collaboration, particularly on the part of those involved in practice. The working paper presented here supplements the previous theoretical specification of the Gelsenkirchen Citizen Science 2.0 approach (Fink, 2020) and forms the basis for further research work and for the procedural conceptual development of the Gelsenkirchen model.
