Whenever a microservice is the protagonist there is always an an- tagonist called monolithic application. Both terms are not well defined and is dangerous to use ambiguous terms which could lead to miscon- ceptions. In the context of microservices, deficiencies in the use of abstract concepts and the interpretation of dependencies can also be observed. As a result, microservices are ascribed properties that are not true in general. This article discusses some misconceptions that can be found in the literature.
