How much freedom does the gameplay of music games allow the player in terms of game mechanics, and in what way does entrainment take place? On the conceptual basis of the DDE framework, this article develops the analytical dimensions of musical rhythm, ludic rhythm and performative rhythm and examines their interrelationships using the example of the music computer games 'Donkey Konga' (2004), 'Vib-Ribbon' (2000) and 'Rayman Legends' (2013).
