Content

The book Banoo - Iranian women and their stories focuses on the position of women in today's Iranian society. Their rise in science and the world of work is making an impression in a male-dominated society - women have now also gained respect outside their own four walls.
In order to gain an insight into the situation of women in Iran and their self-image, I accompanied female protagonists from different social classes and places in Iran in their everyday lives for this photo series and got to know them better. They told stories about how they were perceived as women in a male-dominated society and the obstacles they faced in their everyday lives. Like many other women in Iran, the women I portrayed are making an important contribution to Iranian society, paving the way for future generations and shaping the future of their country.
Banoo is a respectable nickname for women and means lady.
