COFFEE TABLE AND LANDSCAPE
A performative installation
Solo exhibition as part of Schöneberger Art.
November 4 and 5, 2023, Berlin.
120 participants
The tipping point is an unknown limit, it cannot be defined. If it is exceeded, a tiny change can set a process in motion that is irreversible. Nora Fuchs applies this term, which is familiar from climate research, to her artistic work.
In her family, coffee and cake were often seen as the main meal. The important events of the day were discussed. This gave rise to the idea of offering visitors a baked landscape. Anyone who wanted to talk about their ideal idea of a landscape was welcome to help themselves to the coffee table. This changed the shape of the predetermined two-meter-long baked cake table. The interventions in the landscape were first made hesitantly and carefully. The "fields" were gradually changed into organic, differently shaped sections. This was followed by a construction phase in which one group developed architectural forms, while another followed the principles of nature.
The enjoyment, the processes of change and the gradual reconstruction and dismantling of the cake landscape are visible here:

The work is an art installation conceived and realized by Prof. Nora Fuchs on 4 and 5 November 2023.

"The ideal landscape can be found on photographic wallpaper or in slide shows in the past."
"The ideal landscape is wild, uncultivated, raw. With a life of its own."
