The term agile is frequently used in IT and especially in software technology. This widespread use is surprising, as the term agile is not sufficiently defined in software technology.
The arbitrariness of the term agile harbors the danger of unfounded decisions and ideological discussions. Both slow down the further gain of knowledge in software engineering. The term agile should therefore no longer be used in a professional and scientific environment.
In this article, the term agile is critically examined and it is worked out which term better expresses the core idea of agility.
