Bürgermeisterzimmer in Deutschland

The project shows a cross-section of German offices with photographs of mayors' rooms in cities across Germany. The typological series took seven years to complete, during which time almost 120 rooms were photographed in precisely formulated overall views. The result is a typology of an official room that provides information about the city leaders' sense of form and desire for presentation as well as their relationship to culture and tradition. In addition to the publication of the book and the exhibition, the project received a great deal of media coverage, including reports in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, BILD Ruhrgebiet, the online platforms of stern and FAZ, as well as various cultural programs on TV and radio.
