THE INTERVIEW STUDY HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND IS IN THE EVALUATION PHASE (AS OF APRIL 2023)

What is "Zersetzung" by the GDR state security compared to other strategies of repression? How did subversion affect the feelings and experiences of those who were at the center of these attacks? What differences can be identified in the perceptions of those who were affected by Zersetzung and the observations and goals of the Stasi? In order to investigate these questions in greater depth, as part of the BMBF research project "Seelenarbeit im Sozialismus - Psychologie unter politischem Diktat und Justiz", we are looking for people who experienced "Zersetzung", i.e. a systematic attack on various areas of life by the Stasi, and who have access to their files at the BStU.

In the study, you are asked to describe your perception of the repression. This includes not only the repression itself, but also its direct effects on you and your emotional world as well as on your family and your wider social environment. You can choose between a telephone interview or a self-interview, which will be conducted online in compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR). You will also be asked to make your files accessible to us in the Federal Archives. The data collection is pseudonymized or anonymized.

They were researched by project members and made available by the University Archive of the Technical University of Dresden and the Archive of the University of Leipzig.

In addition, the Pdf. format of a list of researched and partially digitized curricula is also available for download. Further curricula and programs can be researched via libraries and university archives as well as the Federal Archives.

As part of the project, various digitizations of publications from the field of psychology were commissioned. These are intended to facilitate access to original sources and works for research and to preserve them in the long term.

The selected digitized holdings offer an insight into the development of psychological research topics in the GDR. Some political requirements and influences can also be taken from them.

The congress proceedings of the congresses of the Society for Psychology in the GDR have been digitized at the German National Library. The first congress volume is publicly accessible as an out-of-print work in accordance with § 51 VGG para. 1 no. 1. Since the regulations on out-of-print works only apply to works published before January 1, 1966, the congress volumes published later can only be viewed on the computers of the German National Library. Further congress volumes will be made accessible via the Internet when the copyright period expires.

In addition, the journals "Probleme und Ergebnisse der Psychologie" and "Psychologie für die Praxis" have been microfilmed and digitized for research purposes in cooperation with the library in the Haus der Geschichte in Bonn for the SiSaP project. A large number of the journals are also held there.

Information Psychologie" was the organ of the Society for Psychology of the GDR and was also digitized by the German National Library.
