growing by numbers

Where the Hoesch company once produced iron and steel, the future of urban development is now being tested. The Faculty of Architecture has been using the former factory hall in the Union-Gewerbehof for three and a half years. Now 144 students have presented their 54 urban design models here. They put together over 75 square meters of city models, which are now hanging on the walls of the Werkhalle.

In groups, they developed sections of the model, which were then finally put together. The official presentation took place on 22.12.2015 under the title "growing by numbers", moderated by Prof. Christian Moczala from the Department of Urban Design.

"As with the Nordstadt project, the Fachhochschule Dortmund is using the factory building with the aim of developing a neighborhood that is not simple," says Prof. Moczala, explaining the relocation of the FH premises to the Unionsviertel.
