The "ruhrvalley" research network is sharpening its profile: with the additional name "DeepTech Innovation Network", the participating partners from Business Studies, science and society are continuing on their ambitious path to jointly develop innovative solutions based on secure networked technologies.
The partners, which also include Fachhochschule Dortmund, recently learned about the network's current priorities at the "ruhrvalley" convention in the Alte Lohnhalle in Wattenscheid. Around 90 participants used the annual event for networking - and focused on four main topics:
- networked city
- e-mobile city logistics
- urban energy supply
- the future of construction
Exciting keynotes
These four areas are united by the search for new approaches to managing resources such as energy or heat and making mobility systems more efficient, "greener" and therefore more sustainable. Several keynote speeches at the event illustrated what is already happening in the Ruhr region in particular, but also beyond.
The city of networks
Rethinking urban energy supply
Retrofitting buildings for climate efficiency
Green city logistics
Original solutions
At the trade fair within the event, convention participants were able to take electric test drives in innovative vehicles such as the Antric bicycle truck or the "fair.be" velomobile. They also learned more about the original solutions being pursued by the partners in the "ruhrvalley" and how they work: from internet security and the development of a smart city IT platform to battery test systems and company bike leasing. The participants discussed their own thoughts and ideas on the topics of the convention in four workshop sessions.
Farewell to Prof. Dr. Norbert Wißing
Shortly before his retirement, Prof. Dr. Norbert Wißing accompanied the "ruhrvalley" convention with a final appearance as the management office's partnership spokesperson. He took on this role at the beginning of 2020. He worked for Fachhochschule Dortmund for a total of 30 years, most recently as Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology(Opens in a new tab) . "I really enjoyed working in the 'ruhrvalley' network and I will take away many positive memories, inspiring conversations and the certainty that you will continue to make a difference in our region with your willingness to change and work together," said Norbert Wißing in his farewell words.
