Racing car in the rectorate corridor

Glass garage for the disused "RI-09" racing car

An unusual exhibit can now be admired in the Rectorate corridor at the FH Sonnenstraße site: the university's own "Race-Ing. Team(Opens in a new tab) " is presenting its disused "RI-09" racing car in a kind of glass garage.

The name of the nimble vehicle stands for "Race-Ing. 2009". At that time, it was on the track for the first time at a student race in Italy (SAE Italy at the Autodromo Riccardo Paletti in the province of Parma). Further successful outings followed in 2010 at the "Formula Student" competition in the UK (Silverstone) and Germany (Hockenheim), then at national "Classic Events" with historic racing cars, including in Hamburg.

The car in the "Icon Gold" color was the fourth that the "Race-Ing. Team" designed, built, tested and raced. Technical details can be read on an information board in the showcase next to the vehicle - for example, that the "RI-09" weighs 284 kilograms and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.27 seconds.
