In the Westfalenhallen, Rector Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schwick welcomed the first semester students of Fachhochschule Dortmund on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. From the winter semester 2022/23, the UAS is expected to educate around 3,000 new students.

"Your first semester is not only important for orientation," said Prof. Schwick, "but also for mastering the transition to independent and intensive work. But don't worry: we will help you with this and we have a lot of experience."

In his video message, Lord Mayor Thomas Westphal emphasized that the UAS, with its approximately 15,000 students, is an important part of Dortmund as a city of science.

A movie and lots of information

A first semester film gave the new students an impression of their studies and the city of Dortmund. Poetry slammer and author Rainer Holl moderated the event with speed and an easy-going manner.

After the stage show, the information forum was packed: here the new students were able to make contacts and pick up material from the student councils, library, AStA, Student Advisory Service, CSR Office, Studierendenwerk, Family Service, International Office, Institute for Higher Education Didactics, Equal Opportunities Office and other institutions.
