Excerpt from the jury report
Red Line
"The work begins with an unusual and at the same time very descriptive phenomenological analysis of the existing situation and initial typological sketches/theses on the rules of the game that are set for the design. The design is strongly oriented towards the existing building and develops a spatial axis as a core element. The "Red Line" is a compact market square and generous transition across Siegburger Strasse in one.
The square beyond the Red Line is densely planted with trees and supplemented with play and recreation areas. Two public buildings are positioned at the ends of the Red Line (media library and play tower). The supermarket building with the parking deck at the rear will be completely converted as "Gertrude" into a mixture of co-working, urban farming, showroom, urban production and living. The work is a stimulating contribution to the competition brief."
