Professional competence:
In-depth knowledge in the following areas
- Architecture and energy transition > architecture and environment
- Architecture and demographic change > architecture and people
Methodological competence:
Interdisciplinary work as a basis for problem and design solutions, acquisition of subject-specific vocabulary
.
Key competence:
Preparation of expert interviews, teamwork, documentation
Contents
Teaching content on the above-mentioned subject areas of architecture and environment and architecture and people are:
- - Material and energy cycles (sustainability in the construction, operation, maintenance and dismantling of buildings)
- - Low-energy construction forms and building elements
- - Autochthonous building (design, construction, material)
- - Strategies for dynamic social utilization processes
- - New building typologies
Teaching methods
Interdisciplinary lecture series of all lecturers involved in the Master's degree program (supplemented by guest speakers). Scheduled in the initial phase, the lecture series provides an intensive introduction to the multi-layered subject matter of the study program. The compact lecture series introduces the central objectives.

Designing and detailing sites, buildings, spaces and structures with multi-layered,
interdisciplinary planning requirements with the following focal points:
Urban design, expression, function and organization, construction, material, technology, energy, etc.
taking into account fundamental factors that determine architecture
- Place | context
- Shape | Expression
- Adequacy
- Depending on the event, the feasibility of the developed design approaches is also checked in this module. Individual parameters of the developed design idea are excerpted, detailed and practically realized. The verification of the solution approaches pursued, their further development and control takes place in the practical implementation on a 1:1 scale
b) Referenced course R 1
These seminar courses complement the design course of the projects and offer in-depth insights into the theoretical foundations of the above-mentioned aspects;
Teaching methods
Phase 1: Workshop | Exercise | Project work as individual or team work. Intermediate public presentations and final presentation (also with guest critique)
Phase 2: Workshop | Exercise | Project work as individual work Intermediate public presentations and final presentation (also with guest critique)
