The aim of this module is to enable students to grasp all conceptual and planning steps in the run-up to the successful realization of a film and subsequently to develop them independently. Students should be able to systematically complete the methodological and dramaturgical basics of the individual forms and exploit the creative possibilities of these steps.

Contents

Conception and development of a film for the Master's degree: Idea sketch, synopsis, treatment, screenplay, production dossier, budget, financing plan, camera concept, technical process.

Contents

New aspects of the technology, aesthetics and production of film production will be presented and discussed in the form of lectures and block seminars. Some of these events will take place in cooperation with the Institute for Moving Image at Dortmunder U.

Students should be able to master the specific implementation of a film project with the following work steps: Preparation for shooting, finding a motif, casting, technology, directing, acting, production management, sound design and to master the specific problems of teamwork in film in its dynamics.

Contents

The individual steps in the production of a film project are discussed in the form of a colloquium.

In a broader context, methodical approaches to the technical and team-oriented logistics of the concrete realization of a film project are discussed: Shooting preparation, subject search, casting, technology, directing, acting, production management, sound design.
