Upon successful completion of the module, students will have achieved the following learning objectives
- Acquire distinctive assessment, interpretation and design skills with regard to the special requirements of the tasks worked on in the respective focus areas.

Contents
In addition, the aim is to provide students with opportunities to find adequate solutions in the various publishing fields. This is supported by the teaching of specific communication strategies such as experimental work with unusual production techniques, unusual materials (substrate, ink) or non-standardized printing processes through to the embedding of digital applications or the development of such.

- Delivery of a presentation and lecture on a given task as a presentation and as an instructional video
- Development of a written expertise (analysis and documentation of the approach and description of solutions) with added sound examples (upload to ILIAS) on a design task
- Development of a design dossier (min. 5 designed pages) with added sound examples (upload to ILIAS - several realized sound layouts for the proposed audio design project)
- Public presentation of the work results in lecture form and as a presentation video

- Ability to engage in a phenomenological, reception-aesthetic and hermeneutic-analytical examination of the media-specific range of topics in editorial design
- Knowledge and the ability to analyze, reflect on and critically discuss the specifics of the design process in editorial design with regard to various narrative theories
- Knowledge of the common concept of science and the ability to transfer it to editorial design
- Understanding of scientific-theoretical terms and the ability to comprehend scientific-theoretical approaches
- Familiarity with the most important current theories and methods in communication design in general and in editorial design in particular

- Presentation, definition, reflection and discussion of the concept of editorial design with regard to different narrative theories in a globalized cultural context and in new media ecologies
- Presentation of the special features of the design process in editorial design (including narrative strategies and authorial concepts of storytelling, text-image interactions, narrative user interface model; interactive, performative, non-linear and immersive narrative structures, narration in cross-media and digital extensions)
- Focus on communication theory: presentation, analysis and communication of selected trend-setting topics on the theory and practice of media communication as well as exemplary implementation of theoretical statements, methodological questions and the special nature of communicative techniques and narratives in editorial design

Contents
In addition to the preparation of the student's own master's project, it includes the deepening of the second editorial design focus in the differentiation of a creative attitude in media use. Professional core skills such as networking, customer care and self-marketing are learned as well as the development of media presentations in the strategies of digital media, sound/AV and publication.
