IDiAL presents iKann project at E-World

E-World

From February 11 to 13, IDiAL was represented at E-World 2025 with the iKann project. Together with colleagues from the Westfälische Hochschule Gelsenkirchen and the Ruhrvalley Management Office, an innovative concept for inspecting urban canals was presented.

Using the example of a demonstrator for a canal, the concept of data acquisition with floating sensors, with functional and miniaturized measurement technology, was illustrated to interested parties in a practical way. The demonstration was based on technology developed in the project for the acquisition and secure transmission of measurement data in technology-hostile environments, such as underground canals.

Potential partners from politics, science and industry were thus able to see for themselves the efficiency of interdisciplinary and cross-university research.

IDiAL presents iKann project at the Smart City Summit

Smart City Summit

The second Smart City Summit, organized by the city of Herne and ruhrvalley, took place in Herne from 4 to 6 February 2025. IDiAL was represented at the event with an exhibit on the iKann research project.

On the first day, the German-speaking FIWARE meeting took place, which focused on the exchange on the use of open standards and interoperable smart city solutions.

The second day was dedicated to the implementation of smart cities in areas such as energy, administration and mobility. The keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Dr. Niehaves (University of Bremen) provided impetus for the use of AI in administration. Mayor Dr. Dudda (City of Herne) and State Secretary Josef Hovenjürgen (MHKBD NRW) opened the event. The common tenor of this day was: "We don't have a knowledge problem, we have an implementation problem."

The last day was dedicated to AI and digital administration. The focus was on infrastructure and data spaces. In addition to several presentations, there were panel discussions in between to discuss the information presented.
