Fachhochschule Dortmund traditionally welcomes its new employees in teaching, research and administration on a welcome day - this time with a new concept that ensured even more personal interaction during the onboarding event.
"I congratulate you on your meaningful job with us. Together, we have the wonderful opportunity in the various disciplines to accompany students on their path through life and contribute to their successful future," emphasized Rector Prof. Dr. Tamara Appel in her welcoming address at the Max-Ophüls-Platz location. Like her, Chancellor Svenja Stepper also encouraged the new students to quickly network at the university and to experience the diversity of the UAS at all levels: "We are colorful, strong and full of life!" said the Chancellor. This is also evident at events such as her "favorite event", the Dragon Boat Festival(Opens in a new tab) , "where we are not just literally all in the same boat".
Networking and useful information
The new Future Makers then got to know the university and its locations and facilities better in a presentation. This was followed by dynamic exchange rounds including playful speed dating and an entertaining rally at Max-Ophüls-Platz. As a useful souvenir that will accompany the newcomers in their everyday university life in the future, personally decorated drinking bottles were created in the plotting workshop(Opens in a new tab) at the Faculty of Design and in the makerspace SQuArE(Opens in a new tab) : not only could names be immortalized on them by laser engraving, but also a winding tower, the U-tower or the HY vintage car(Opens in a new tab) of the UAS as an additional motif - all designed by employee Sonja Kräussl. At the end of the event, the participants enjoyed a snack together.
The Welcome Day was organized and supported by Jutta Groenhof and her colleagues Franziska Fricke and Miriam Hobohm from the Organizational and Prospective Management(Opens in a new tab) department.
