Welcome day for teachers and researchers

Fachhochschule Dortmund welcomed new lecturers and researchers with a welcome day. A team from the Institute for Higher Education Didactics and Perspective Management had put together an informative program at the Max-Ophüls-Platz location.

The newcomers were welcomed by Rector Prof. Dr. Tamara Appel(Opens in a new tab)  and Prof. Dr. Jörg Thiem(Opens in a new tab) , Vice-Rector for Research and Transfer. Both encouraged the participants to get to know each other beyond their own faculty and to network. They also emphasized the University of Applied Sciences' aspiration to use applied sciences in research and teaching to meet the challenges of Business Studies and to ensure the transfer of knowledge to society.

Insights into work areas

Over the course of the welcome day, which also included a joint lunch, the participants were given insights into various areas of work. Head of Department Jutta Groenhof(Opens in a new tab)  presented the organizational and perspective management, Prof. Dr. Martin Hirsch(Opens in a new tab)  the university didactic training and the committee work. Kim Veit(Opens in a new tab)  explained the principle of system accreditation and addressed the formulation of module descriptions in a quality management workshop.

Franziska Fricke(Opens in a new tab)  explained the process for pre- and onboarding in the "Welcome Prof 360 Grad" project. Lina Schmitz(Opens in a new tab)  and Vincent Beringhoff(Opens in a new tab)  explained to the new students how the Institute for Higher Education Didactics supports innovative teaching. In this context, student assistant Timo Bach gave a very practical demonstration of how the video lab can support teaching videos with a green screen, for example.

The participants learned how innovative teaching can be realized with explanatory videos and green screen during a presentation at the Institute for Higher Education Didactics.
