Protest camp on campus

Published

On their own initiative, students have set up a protest camp for peace in the Middle East on the Emil-Figge-Straße campus. The assembly was registered with the police and approved.

According to the organizers, the pro-Palestinian initiative is intended to "inform students and the general public about the situation in the Middle East and raise awareness of the need for a peaceful solution." It will be set up on the meadow south of the Faculties of Architecture and Computer Science (Emil-Figge-Straße 40 and 42; location on Google Maps(Opens in a new tab) ). It will start on May 27 at 1 p.m. and is expected to last until June 3 at 8 p.m.

The university management of TU and FH see universities as places of critical discourse, dialog and academic and social debate. The right to freedom of expression must be respected. They have already commented on this in advance.

In dialog with the initiators, the university management agreed in advance that university operations must not be impaired and that the forms of protest must be legally compliant. Any form of anti-Semitism, discrimination and violence is a red line that will not be tolerated. The FH would then exercise its domiciliary rights.

To ensure everyone's safety, the UAS is in close contact with the police.
