The 8th IEEE International Conference on Computational Systems and Information Technology for Sustainable Solutions (CSITSS) has once again set standards in the discussion on sustainable technologies. The event, which was organized in close cooperation between the RV College of Engineering, Florida International University and Fachhochschule Dortmund, took place from 7 to 9 November 2024 in Bangalore, India.
More than 1,000 scientific papers were submitted for the conference. 400 of these were accepted after two to three reviews and presented on site. Fachhochschule Dortmund was also represented with its own contribution. Seyed Saeed Mirsafian spoke on behalf of the Cloud Energy Lab team on the topic "Optimizing Renewable Energy Using Scalable Solutions: IoT Integration in Renewable Energy Laboratories" and explained how two test benches - the e-drive test bench and the fuel cell test bench - at different locations and in different laboratories at Fachhochschule Dortmund were networked by using IoT technology and connecting to the cloud to simulate a fuel cell vehicle and optimize energy efficiency.
The three-day conference kicked off on 7 November 2024 with a tutorial session led by industry experts from the USA and India and aimed to give participants a deep insight into current and future challenges in the fields of AI and digitalization.
Keynote speakers at the opening ceremony on November 8, 2024 included Dr. K.N. Subramanya, Rector of RV College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Vinod Rajamani from Fachhochschule Dortmund, and others. In his keynote speech, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Vinod Rajamani particularly emphasized the importance of sustainable engineering and highlighted ways into the future of this essential field of research.
On the following conference days, numerous sessions covered topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Mechanics and Photonics, Computational Analysis and Autonomous Vehicles and Renewable Energy. Distinguished Professor Sri. S. S. Iyengar from Florida International University (FIU) praised the quality of the conference saying, "I think this is one of the best conferences I have attended in the last 54 years both in the US and India based on my experience of attending CSITSS in India every year."
For Fachhochschule Dortmund, which attended the conference in Bangalore with a delegation, international exchange and scientific networking is an important building block for its research and teaching. The partnership with India is to be further strengthened.
