FH student takes over the Management Board of Brockhaus AG

Under the slogan "Be the Boss", Brockhaus AG, based in Lünen and Dortmund, will hand over the position of CEO Matthias Besenfelder to a student from Fachhochschule Dortmund for one day on October 16, 2024. The application phase is underway.

Project review, annual planning, meetings with the Head of Sales and the IT security team, plus customer contacts, one-on-one meetings at management level and press appointments. The schedule for Boss Day at IT service provider Brockhaus AG is full. "The 'Be the Boss' campaign is a great opportunity for our students to be involved at first hand in decisions at the highest level of a medium-sized company with more than 170 employees," says Prof. Dr. Gabriele Kunau from the Faculty of Computer Science.

Students at Fachhochschule Dortmund are eligible to apply. An IT-related and business-oriented study program such as Computer Science, Business Information Systems or Business Studies is an advantage.

Brockhaus AG has been around for 36 years. The company, which specializes in IT services and applications, particularly for the insurance industry, has its headquarters in neighbouring Lünen and locations in Dortmund and Hamburg. Company boss Matthias Besenfelder is himself an alumnus of Fachhochschule Dortmund, where he successfully completed his studies in the Faculty of Computer Science. He now heads a multinational team with employees from more than 20 nations.

"I'm looking forward to a new and unbiased perspective in order to gain food for thought for my actions as a board member," says Matthias Besenfelder. "At the same time, I want to pass on a real insight into the top management activities of a medium-sized IT consultancy - sometimes it's different from what you imagine."

The new boss will work on the "Be the Boss" day in Lünen, where they will experience the consulting business from the perspective of the management and gain exciting insights into the working day at management level.
